Student Management Department Framework

The Student Management Department recognises that apart from corrective approaches, the restorative processes are also essential in ensuring a child’s positive growth and development. To help us achieve the desired outcomes, we have continuously employed the Restorative Approach, where the focus is not just on consequences and punishment. The department rides on platforms such as the Secondary 1 Orientation Programme and school assembly programmes to communicate the disciplinary processes to the students. This is to ensure we achieve the objective of sustaining a whole-school approach in student discipline.

In 2018, the department participated in the Time-Out Programme (TOP) to manage the recalcitrant and at-risk students. TOP is helmed by Cornerstone Pte Ltd, where the trainers aim to guide the students in managing their emotions and creating self-awareness, as well as finding motivation towards achieving excellence. We also welcomed our new Student Welfare Officer (SWO) who works closely with the team to provide student-centric social support to overcome barriers to learning in the families and support the healthy development of at-risk students. The duties of the SWO include mentoring at-risk students and conducting prevention programmes for these students, conducting visits to their homes and making referrals to the relevant agencies for their families to maximise the students’ and their families’ access to school and community resources that are essential for student success.
