Our school’s choir seeks to provide members with an appreciation for singing and music, as well as inculcating school values through an array of events and activities such as Values in Action projects and public performances.
This year, our school’s choir members have pushed themselves hard, performing at two public events. The choir performed at the Inaugural Treble Voices Festival in the School of the Arts (SOTA) Concert Hall. The Festival featured over 250 performers with original works from local composers and arrangers. The choir was also invited to perform at the Durian Festival organised by the Sengkang CC Youth Executive Committee (YEC) and the Sengkang Community Club Management Committee. Through these experiences, our members demonstrated the school values as they learnt to be more gracious in their interaction with others and more resilient as they practised long hours in preparation for their public performances. Our members also grew in their level of confidence as they honed their singing techniques and vocal abilities on stage. As choral singers, our members understand that their bodies are their instruments, and they learn to be more responsible for their health through regular exercises like running and playing sports.
Moving forward, our members believe in our motto of singing together with ‘One Heart, One Voice’. We hope to share our love for choral music and to touch the hearts of people around us through our performance and appreciation of our diverse repertoire of music. Simultaneously, our members will continue to grow in confidence through our stage performances both in and out of school. With hard work and continued effort, our choir will remain a vibrant unit, striving for excellence in the coming Singapore Youth Festival Arts Presentation in 2019 and realising the aspirations of its members.
